Worldwide, osteoarthritis is a leading cause of musculoskeletal disability. It occurs mainly due to the normal ageing process of the body. Study shows that around 85% of the population above 75 years of age are affected by this. It is also shown that the lifetime risk of getting osteoarthritis is as high as 44.7%.

1) Fractures of the joint causing malunion or ligament injury causing instability of the joint. Sometimes Joint diseases like Rheumatoid arthritis or Gout. Infections in the joints like tuberculosis can cause arthritis.

2) Arthritis presents with pain & swelling of the joint. The joint is deformed & sometimes unstable. This causes difficulty in activities of daily living such as walking, climbing stairs, and bending the limb. joint movements become painful & restricted.
